SLDN Urges Gay Troops to Avoid Pentagon Surveys. Servicemembers United has a different opinion.

I’ve seen lots of bitchiness flying through the anti-Obama gay blogosphere regarding the Pentagon’s  troop survey on the DADT policy change.   Since I don’t like to listen to much those tired ass queens have to say, I contacted Alex Nicholson, Executive Director of Servicemembers United.

Nicholson stated the following:

1. He has not seen a copy of the survey yet and he doesn’t believe anyone else (outside those military personnel selected to complete the survey) has seen it either.

2. He was concerned there was a question about sharing bathrooms on the draft copy of the survey, but since he hasn’t seen a final version of the survey, he can’t state whether the question is still there.

There’s some fire-fanning comments coming from members of the anti-Obama gay blogosphere who are claiming the survey puts gay and lesbian servicemembers at risk of being discharged under DADT if they participate in the survey. Nicholson states “I am completely comfortable with the security mechanisms in place to secure confidentiality and anonymity.”  The survey itself does not ask if a servicemember is gay, but there’s a confidential chat after a servicemember has completed the survey that will allow him or her to discuss what it’s like being gay or lesbian in the military. Nicholson says:

“Servicemembers United encourages all gay and lesbian active duty troops who received the survey to take this important opportunity to provide their views. We especially encourage gay and lesbian troops to take advantage the opportunity at the end of the survey to participate in a confidential chat about issues related to being gay or lesbian in the U.S. military.”

It’s a damn shame that the “elite gay press” (that’s what they like to call themselves) is doing everything in its power to derail any effort the Obama administration makes to fulfill their promise of repealing DADT. And Pam Spaulding leads the bunch, like a good little token Black lesbian.

I.love.TransGriot. I need to make that a bumper sticker.

Monica over at TransGriot is crackin’ the whip with anti-Obama white gays – mostly those who were convinced by the HRC to support Hillary Clinton (even though good ol’ Hillary pretty much wrote the Defense of Marriage Act and had Barr put his name on it). Monica says:

Buy a fracking vowel and get a rainbow clue. Last time I checked, the gay community was not made up exclusively of white gay people. We’re getting tired and fed up with you vanilla flavored privilege wielding GLBT peeps not only attacking our community and conveniently ignoring the fact that Black GLBT people not only exist, but we chocolate flavored GLBT peeps have a diametrically opposed view of how President Obama is doing.

The Black GLBT community is also concerned that your constant attacks are not only pissing our people off and alienating our African American cis and straight allies, you are making our job much tougher in the African American community to make the case why they should support and fight for these issues.

The reality is that Bush left the Obama Administration a toxic mess to clean up and the man has his hands full. If the rest of us and Stevie Wonder can see that, what’s wrong with y’all?

The anti-Obama queers Monica speaks of know full well that Obama has his hands full. Even a deaf and blind man knows the country is in a recession, the healthcare system is in shambles and the country is still fighting a war the Bush administration started. What’s happening here is a very slick anti-Obama/Pro-Hillary 2016 campaign – compliments of the HRC. By 2016, the HRC hopes to have convinced people that the Black man had his chance and he failed so it’s time to have a woman in the White House. I venture to guess the Clintons still have the HRC on their payroll and the HRC has a lot of favors to pay out.

I would add that a lot of us in the Black LGBTQ community are fed up with you Black queers who have become talking pieces for the HRC – a group that could care less about your Black ass. You know who you are. The HRC tossed a few pennies your way in the form of blog advertising and you’ve been kissin’ their lilly white rich asses ever since.

Update: Great comments on the HRC:

“The HRC is not a democratic or inclusive institution, especially for the people who they claim to represent. Just like society today, the HRC is run by a few wealthy elites who are in bed with corporate sponsors who proliferate militarism, heteronormativity, and capitalist exploitation. The sweatshops (Nike), war crimes (Lockheed Martin), assaults on working class people (Bank of America, Deloitte, Chase Bank, Citi Group, Wachovia Bank) and patriarchy (American Apparel) caused by their sponsors is a hypocrisy for an organization with “human rights” in their name.

Uh huh. I couldn’t agree more.

I received a picture of what appears to be Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas sleeping at Obama’s inauguration. This picture landed in my email box about 20 minutes ago:

clarence thomas

The sender of the email didn’t identify him/herself and he’s using the alias Joe Bob.

My first thought? Someone’s trying to make it appear that the only Black Supreme Court justice was bored by the inauguration of the very first Black President. It’s quite possible that Thomas was simply brushing something off his robe, checking his watch, or textin’ a young hottie (ha!).

If you view a larger version of this image, you’ll see that it looks Photoshopped. Look closely at the top left corner of the image and notice the guy in the shades. See the funky Photoshop work? Also, take a look at the top right hand side of the picture. There’s an older white guy with his head down. Just above his head you can see even more crappy Photoshop work.

Since it’s a well-known fact that Clarence Thomas questioned Obama’s citizenship and his right to assume the role of POTUS, I’m guessing this is an attempt to ride that rift between the two highest ranking Black men in Washington. It’s a good try and it just might work with the right group of gullible sheep.

Update Jan. 27, 2009: cfishy5, one of my Twitter followers said, “I saw that. But its only a snapshot, not a video Part of larger view, thats why it looks Shopped.” I was directed to an even larger image. After zooming in, I still say it looks shopped. Take a look.

I didn’t get a chance to watch the inauguration live because I was in court (again) dealing with child placement issues and child support. I married a jackass and I bore him children. There’s nothing I can do about that now.

I was driving home feeling very ticked off that I missed watching history in the making. During my 20 minute drive home from the courthouse, my friends started sending me celebratory text messages with comments like:

“Hell yeah! President Obama. Adios Bush!”

“We got us a new President. Finally!”

“This happy day calls for a happy dance.”

“God Bless America!” (Normally, I roll my eyes when I see that comment. Today I didn’t.)

What I was most proud of today is that the voice of pissed off gay America didn’t drown out the excitement of history in the making.

Congratulations, Mr. President.
