In keeping with the theme for SistersTalk Radio’s anniversary show Monday night, I’m looking for interesting sex articles to discuss. I found a couple of amusing articles (here and here). Some of you might find it odd that Bitch (a self-proclaimed feminist magazine rag) refused to run the following advertisement because (supposedly, since we don’t know for sure) it’s displaying a hairy bush:

Personally, for me, a hairy bush is a dealbreaker. But I don’t claim I’m a feminist magazine published to empower all women, so I can say that.

In my opinion, it’s not the hairy bush that bothers the folks over at Bitch. It’s the hairy bush peeking out of a pair of pink panties that bothers them. If that hairy bush was visible through the opening of a pair of plaid boxers, we wouldn’t be having this discussion. True hairy feminists don’t wear pink undies, correct?

Of course I’m joking.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. The Bitch rag can do whatever it wants and reserves the right to refuse any advertisement. But, does anyone else find it odd that a feminist magazine that’s struggling to pay its bills wouldn’t run an ad like this one? It seems pretty harmless to me, but then again, I’m not one of those kinds of feminists so I wouldn’t understand what “harmless” means to them.

And yep, I used the qualifier “those kinds” to describe those kinds of feminists. We’ll be discussing this more on SistersTalk Radio Monday night. Join us!

Update:
One of my Twitter followers said “Though, rather than the hair it may have been the male stereotype on the front of the panties that did it.”

Since we don’t know for sure, let’s assume (hypothetically, of course) that the reason Bitch refused to run the ad is because it supposedly objectifies women. Pfft! Call me an objectifier then because I love pretty pink vaginas – and a whole lot of sex positive lesbians would agree with me.

I.love.TransGriot. I need to make that a bumper sticker.

Monica over at TransGriot is crackin’ the whip with anti-Obama white gays – mostly those who were convinced by the HRC to support Hillary Clinton (even though good ol’ Hillary pretty much wrote the Defense of Marriage Act and had Barr put his name on it). Monica says:

Buy a fracking vowel and get a rainbow clue. Last time I checked, the gay community was not made up exclusively of white gay people. We’re getting tired and fed up with you vanilla flavored privilege wielding GLBT peeps not only attacking our community and conveniently ignoring the fact that Black GLBT people not only exist, but we chocolate flavored GLBT peeps have a diametrically opposed view of how President Obama is doing.

The Black GLBT community is also concerned that your constant attacks are not only pissing our people off and alienating our African American cis and straight allies, you are making our job much tougher in the African American community to make the case why they should support and fight for these issues.

The reality is that Bush left the Obama Administration a toxic mess to clean up and the man has his hands full. If the rest of us and Stevie Wonder can see that, what’s wrong with y’all?

The anti-Obama queers Monica speaks of know full well that Obama has his hands full. Even a deaf and blind man knows the country is in a recession, the healthcare system is in shambles and the country is still fighting a war the Bush administration started. What’s happening here is a very slick anti-Obama/Pro-Hillary 2016 campaign – compliments of the HRC. By 2016, the HRC hopes to have convinced people that the Black man had his chance and he failed so it’s time to have a woman in the White House. I venture to guess the Clintons still have the HRC on their payroll and the HRC has a lot of favors to pay out.

I would add that a lot of us in the Black LGBTQ community are fed up with you Black queers who have become talking pieces for the HRC – a group that could care less about your Black ass. You know who you are. The HRC tossed a few pennies your way in the form of blog advertising and you’ve been kissin’ their lilly white rich asses ever since.

Update: Great comments on the HRC:

“The HRC is not a democratic or inclusive institution, especially for the people who they claim to represent. Just like society today, the HRC is run by a few wealthy elites who are in bed with corporate sponsors who proliferate militarism, heteronormativity, and capitalist exploitation. The sweatshops (Nike), war crimes (Lockheed Martin), assaults on working class people (Bank of America, Deloitte, Chase Bank, Citi Group, Wachovia Bank) and patriarchy (American Apparel) caused by their sponsors is a hypocrisy for an organization with “human rights” in their name.

Uh huh. I couldn’t agree more.

Andrea and I are preparing for SistersTalk Radio’s 1st anniversary episode.  We’re celebrating our first year the same way we started the show a year ago:  great conversations about lesbian sex.   Felice Newman, author of  The Whole Lesbian Sex Book was our very first guest and she’ll be joining us for the celebration on Monday, October 26 at 7pm CST.

We’d like your help to make Monday’s show a success – and a whole lot of fun!  Felice has published a YES, NO, MAYBE list full of all sorts of hot sexual activities.   We’d like for you to check out this list and tell us the top 10 things you would love to try with your partner and the top 10 things you wouldn’t dream of doing with anybody – not even that smokin’ hot coworker you fantasize about all the time.

Here’s My 10 Things That Would Make Me Say “Hell Yes, I’d Do That!” list:

body paint
breast whipping
fellatio with a strap-on
making porn
multiple orgasms
playing with sex toys
sixty-nine
strap-on sex
threesome
whipping

And here’s my 10 Things That Would Make Me Say  “Oh Hell No, Don’t Even Ask” list:

age play
anal penetration
anal play
double penetration
enemas
golden showers
knife play
licking feet
rape scenes
shaving (someone else, not yourself)

I just realized just how vanilla I really am.

Join the fun! Copy the entire list, highlight all your yes answers in green, no answers in red and maybe answers in yellow. Send us your completed list and we’ll compare everyone’s answers so we can see whose house we definitely want to stop at the next time we’re traveling. Just kidding! We won’t use your name on the show (we promise) and we won’t judge you (no matter how freaky you are!) so be honest.

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius today announced plans to establish the nation’s first national resource center to assist communities across the country in their efforts to provide services and supports for older lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals.

Experts estimate that as many as 1.5 to 4 million LGBT individuals are age 60 and older. Agencies that provide services to older individuals may be unfamiliar or uncomfortable with the needs of this group of individuals. The new Resource Center for LGBT Elders will provide information, assistance and resources for both LGBT organizations and mainstream aging services providers at the state and community level to assist them in the development and provision of culturally sensitive supports and services. The LGBT Center will also be available to educate the LGBT community about the importance of planning ahead for future long term care needs.

The LBGT Resource Center will help community-based organizations understand the unique needs and concerns of older LGBT individuals and assist them in implementing programs for local service providers, including providing help to LGBT caregivers who are providing care for an older partner with health or other challenges.

The Administration on Aging will award a single Resource Center grant at approximately $250,000 per year, pending availability of funds. Eligible entities will include public-private nonprofit organizations with experience working on LGBT issues on a national level. The funding announcement for the Resource Center will be made available on the following website very soon. http://www.aoa.gov/AoARoot/Grants/Funding/index.aspx

Matt Skallerud, President of Pink Banana Media, began his career in the gay & lesbian marketplace when he founded GayWired.com in May of 1995. He successfully led GayWired.com into becoming one of the premiere gay websites worldwide, translating that success to LesbiaNation.com and QTMagazine.com (gay travel site). In 2001, he expanded this online reach by launching a company focused on both developing niche-oriented websites for the gay & lesbian community and helping companies large and small reach these gay & lesbian consumers through this expanded network of websites, which included GayMonkey.com, GaySports.com, Navigaytion.com, PrideParenting.com and GayBusinessWorld.com, just to name a few.

Having sold these sites, his focus is now on the latest in advertising and marketing utilizing social networks and tailoring their opportunities to the GLBT community.

I rarely use the word homophobic. I like to save it for those times when there is not a better adjective. In Protect Marriage Washington’s case, homophobic is the best adjective to describe their latest e-mail to supporters urging them to reject referendum 71. The letter was written by Senator Val Stevens. She wrote:

Could this be the final battle?

Are the homosexuals finally going to take control of our culture and push their depraved lifestyle on our children and families?

Senator Stevens clearly does not understand the bill. We are simply trying to protect our families and children in times of crisis, like having the ability to take unpaid leave from work to care for a loved one without being fired. I’m not quite sure how that affects her family. Fortunately for us, she elaborated:
