Six gay Iraqis were shot to death by tribal members in a pair of incidents in the past 10 days, a government source says.

An unnamed Iraq Interior Ministry official said the latest incident happened Thursday in the Sadr City area of Baghdad, in which two gay men were slain after they were disowned by relatives, CNN reported.

The official said the men were killed after a tribal meeting was held and the members decided to hunt down the victims.

Four federal lawsuits were filed Thursday against a Chicago Police officer accused of targeting gay and lesbian motorists for unwarranted DUI’s on the North Side.

At least seven more suits are expected to be filed against Town Hall District police Officer Richard Fiorito in recent weeks, according to a local representative of the gay and lesbian community.

The suits — which allege Fiorito pulls over gay and lesbian drivers who are not intoxicated, then arrests them for DUI — also claims other officers in Fiorito’s district questioned the validity of his arrests.

A Maryland Senate panel has endorsed exempting domestic partners who co-own homes from inheritance taxes after the death of one person.

The Senate Budget and Taxation committee voted 9-6 Wednesday to advance a bill that would add domestic partners to the list of family members who can inherit homes without paying taxes on that property. The exemption would only apply to the couple’s primary residence and the property must be jointly owned for the survivor to get the tax break.

American Catholics are more liberal than the general population on social issues like divorce and homosexuality, despite the Catholic Church’s longstanding conservatism on both issues, according to a new survey.

Catholics are more likely than non-Catholics to say that homosexual relations, divorce, and heterosexual sex outside wedlock are morally acceptable, according to an analysis by Gallup pollsters released on Monday.
