I’m still in shock about this:

A task force of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America recommended Thursday that its leaders make changes to allow gay and lesbians in committed relationships to serve as clergy.

At the same time, the task force also asked members of the church to respect congregations and synods that disagree because they believe such actions would violate Scripture.

Let’s see how far this effort will go. There’s something real strange about evangelicals supporting anything related to homosexuals.

The Family Policy Council of West Virginia is seeking a constitutional amendment that will define marriage as a union between one man and one woman. To illustrate the “dangers” of gay marriage, this group has an online advertisement that compares gay marriage to a sniper attack on traditional marriage and the traditional family unit.

On Sunday, March 1, hundreds of churches in West Virginia will participate in Stand4Marriage Sunday.

I’m still waiting for these churches to launch a movement that bans heterosexual divorce – a move that I believe will save the sanctity of heterosexual marriage much more than a ban on gay marriage ever will.

I think I’m in love with B. Scott. He has some really great things to say about Chris Brown, Rihanna and domestic violence.

Perhaps B. Scott is the next great feminist?

The question B. Scott asks: do you think a man can be provoked to beat up a woman? Do you think domestic abuse is justified if a woman “provokes” it?

ProtectMarriage.com issued the following press release:

Urging the Legislature to stop wasting time and resources on non-binding resolutions concerning voter approved Proposition 8, Protect Marriage.com today urged legislative committees to shelve HR 5 and SR 7, resolutions stating that the Supreme Court should overturn Proposition 8 when it hears the matter next month.

“Proposition 8 was adopted with over a 600,000 vote margin, gaining approximately the same vote percentage as Barack Obama did nationally,” said Ron Prentice, Chairman of ProtectMarriage.com – Yes on 8, the campaign committee responsible for passage of the measure. “It passed in 42 out of California’s 58 counties, including the five largest counties in California. It is wrong for legislators to disrespect the vote of the people and attempt to substitute their values for the decision of over 7 million voters.”

HR 5 (Ammiano) and SR 7 (Leno) are authored by legislators who have long opposed Prop 8. Their views were well known and rejected by voters when 52.3% of the electorate approved Prop 8. These same legislators have also signed onto amicus briefs before the Court asking that Prop 8 be overturned. Now they are authoring meaningless nonbinding resolutions that take up the time of legislators and legislative staff who should be focused on appropriate legislative priorities such as solving the state deficit.

“Disrespecting the will of voters and wasting taxpayer resources on meaningless legislative resolutions are among the reasons that public approval of the Legislature has fallen to 15%, the lowest in history.” Prentice said. “We urge the Judiciary committees of the Assembly and Senate to shelve these inappropriate resolutions and return the Legislature’s attention to more appropriate work.”

I’m still waiting for ProtectMarriage.com to start a movement that bans heterosexual divorce. Seems to me that’s really the best way to protect marriage. But what do I know, right?

Americans for Truth and the anti-gay religious organization AFA are asking the RNC’s new chairman Michael Steele to ignore the Log Cabin Republicans – a gay Republican organization:

“Every time a new guy like Steele comes in, the Log Cabin Republicans try to say, ‘Hey, he’s one of our guys. He’s for inclusion,’” claims LaBarbera.

But Steele, says LaBarbera, would give up substantially more than he would gain should he reach out to the homosexual activists. “[T]he reality is there’s only 20,000 members all across the country of this tiny homosexual activist group called the Log Cabin Republicans,” he shares. “It’s not a worthwhile exchange to get 20,000 votes to lose millions and millions of faithful, pro-family religious conservatives who are the grassroots of the Republican Party.”

My first instinct was it probably is a very good idea for Steele to ignore the LCR. The last thing Steele needs is a group of homosexual activists assuming that all of his actions need to be approved by them simply because they have offered him their support. The second Steele starts to embrace homosexuals, he’ll be expected to ignore everyone else’s desires in favor of the LCR’s agenda. Bad idea.

But, I shouldn’t assume that LCR homosexuals are anything like those extremely liberal and annoying homosexuals who suddenly believe that all of Obama’s decisions need to pass through them first for approval. I shouldn’t assume they are anything like the homosexuals who cried loudly (and too damn often) about Obama choosing Rick Warren to participate in his inauguration. I shouldn’t assume. But I do.

At one point I heard the LCR was 1 million members strong, but there’s no documentation on their web site supporting that claim. It’s interesting to note that several leaders of prominent LGBT organizations are LCR members: Matt Foreman (Executive Director, The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force), Damon Romine (Entertainment Media Director, GLAAD), Geoff Kors (Executive Director, Equality California), and John Duran (President, Equality California & former Mayor of West Hollywood).

If the RNC is trying to appear all inclusive, it would be stupid to ignore the largest gay Republican organization in the country. I guess they have to decide whether embracing the LCR will be worth the headaches that will surely come out of that new relationship.

Anti-gay organization AFA must be full of closeted, self-loathing homosexuals. The latest from the AFA:

Two TV stations, WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, MI and WSYX-TV in Columbus, OH, have banned a television special showing how the media is silencing Christians. The stations bowed down to the demands of a handful of homosexual activists and banned the showing of our TV special “Speechless…Silencing the Christians.” The one-hour TV special was scheduled to be shown on the stations, but the stations yanked the program after agreeing to run it. AFA was paying for the time.

They’re paying for air-time just so they can spew hate about homosexuals? Are you serious? Don’t they have kids or homeless people that can feed with that money?

You can watch the television special that was recently “banned,” according to the AFA. But I must warn you, the ex-lesbian-who’s-still-gayer-than-I-am is sportin’ a really bad mullet that might make ya crack up for days.

OneNewsNow, a product of the anti-gay homophobic organization American Family Association reports the following:

Central Michigan University is being sued after one of their women’s basketball players said she was kicked off the team due to her heterosexuality.

Brooke Heike was a high school basketball star who was aggressively sought after by several colleges that wanted the league MVP from Washington Township, Michigan, to continue her record-breaking rebounding and shot-blocking skills on their campus. After leading her team to its first conference title in 18 years as a high school senior, the 6-foot-2 forward decided to attend Central Michigan University, which offered her a full scholarship.

But Heike says she fell out of favor in 2007 with CMU’s new women’s basketball head coach, Sue Guevara, and was eventually kicked off the team. She claims the coach, who is allegedly lesbian, took issue with her heterosexuality. Cindy Rhodes Victor of the Victor Firm, PLLC is representing Heike.

“She was not only kicked off the team, but her scholarship was taken away because the coach kept telling her that she wasn’t her ‘type,’” Victor explains. “And when Brooke would ask what was that, [Guevara] would say ‘I don’t want you to wear makeup, you have a boyfriend, I don’t want you to have a boyfriend…you’re too girly girl’ — that type of thing.”

I don’t believe this story for one second, probably because once upon a time I was falsey accused of sexual harassment by a straight girl.

In 2000, I was the Human Resources & Operations Manager for the Rockford, IL Borders store. I inherited a lot of troublesome team members from the former HR Manager. One girl in particular (we’ll call her Bitchy Goth Girl) had been playing the attendance system for over 2 years. She was always late for work. No matter how many times I moved her start time to a later time – upon her request – she still couldn’t get to work on time. Her luck finally ran out and I was in the process of writing her termination notice when my General Manager informed me that I was being investigated for sexual harassment. Bitchy Goth Girl told my manager that I was refusing to be flexible with her schedule because I was angry she was a straight girl who wasn’t interested in me.

Umm, I am not attracted to goth women.

Black lipstick. That brooding miserable mopey look. Pastey white skin. The “death and destruction is near” mentality. It’s not my thing. She was never my type and even if she was, I would never mix business and pleasure. But, Bitchy Goth Girl assumed that just because she had a pussy and I am a lesbian, that people would automatically believe it’s possible that I did indeed sexually harass her.

I haven’t seen much press on the Heike and Guevara story, but if anyone has any insight, please chime in. Considering the source for this story was the AFA, I’m seriously doubting its validity.

As for Bitchy Goth Girl . . . the case disappeared and I never heard another word about it. Two months later, my General Manager dismissed Bitchy Goth Girl because of her attendance record. But, the sexual harassment claim became a part of my permanent record. I thought that was kinda fucked up. That situation made me doubt the validity of all sexual harassment claims – even if a guy is the accused. It’s women like Bitchy Goth Girl who screw things up for women who really are dealing with sexual harassment in the workplace.
